Many private and government universities in Thailand offer partial and fully funded scholarships for international students in Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD programs. The scholarship requirements vary depending on the university and the programs you wish to apply to.

Here, I will discuss five major universities offering partial and fully funded scholarships to international students.

Chulalongkorn University

This university offers an array of Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD programs in English for both national and international students. The university provides various scholarship options, details of which can be found on the respective faculty’s website.

Different programs have different scholarship options, but you must indicate your interest in scholarships while submitting the admission application form and inform the university about the type of scholarship you are applying for.

Thammasat University

Thammasat University is a public research university in Thailand, with campuses in Tha Phra Chan, Rangsit, Pattaya, and Lampang Province. As of 2024, Thammasat University has over 39,000 students enrolled across 33 faculties, colleges, and institutes, supported by 2,000 academic staff members. It is Thailand’s second-oldest university.

This university offers numerous Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD programs in English, along with partial and fully funded scholarships from the university and external organizations such as the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The scholarship requirements may vary depending on the program you are applying to. However, having a GPA of 3.5 or above in your most recent education and an English Proficiency Certificate significantly increases your chances. Additionally, work or internship experience for Master’s applicants and research papers for PhD applicants will further enhance your chances of securing a scholarship.

Mae Fah Luang University

Mae Fah Luang University, located in Chiang Rai Province in northern Thailand, is named after the Princess Mother, Mae Fah Luang, as she was affectionately called by the local people. It is an autonomous public university established under a Royal Charter in 1998.

This university offers a range of programs in English for international students. The tuition fee at Mae Fah Luang University is more affordable than at other universities mentioned here. Moreover, the university provides various scholarships for international students, including partial scholarships, tuition fee waivers, and fully funded scholarships.

Chiang Mai University

Chiang Mai University is a national public research university in northern Thailand, established in 1964. It has a strong focus on engineering, science, agriculture, and medicine. This university is situated in a mountainous region and boasts one of the most beautiful campuses in Thailand. The tuition fees are more affordable compared to many other international universities in Thailand. Additionally, the university offers a limited number of scholarships for international students.

Prince of Songkla University

Prince of Songkla University (PSU), established in 1967, is a leading public university in southern Thailand with campuses in Hat Yai, Pattani, Phuket, Trang, and Surat Thani. Known for its emphasis on academic excellence, research, and community service, PSU offers a wide range of programs across various disciplines, including science, technology, health sciences, and humanities.

PSU offers several scholarship opportunities for international students pursuing Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD programs. These scholarships aim to attract talented individuals from around the world and provide them with financial support to complete their studies.

Scholarship Options

  1. PSU Excellence Scholarships
    • Fully funded scholarships covering tuition fees, monthly living allowances, and other expenses.
