Study destination
Thai universities offer programs across business, engineering, science, health, social sciences, and other fields. Availability and teaching language depend on the course.
Thailand offers a Southeast Asian study setting within reach of India. Major university cities have international communities, while campus environments differ.
Tuition and living expenses may compare favorably with some other destinations, but there is no universal percentage saving. Compare like-for-like program and living budgets before deciding.
Compare your shortlist
This is a field-oriented shortlist, not a universal ranking. Program availability, campus, entry requirements, fees, scholarships, and professional recognition should be verified directly for your intended intake.

Compare curriculum, degree level, internships, entry prerequisites, and professional outcomes for the exact course.
Confirm the teaching language for your cohort and the English tests or alternatives the program accepts.
For regulated fields, confirm recognition and licensing requirements with the relevant authority in India before enrolling. University reputation alone does not establish eligibility to practice.
Compare tuition and mandatory charges with rent, food, transport, insurance, books, travel, and currency movements.
Ask about the international office, accommodation, orientation, health coverage, and how quickly the university provides visa documents.
Bangkok and Chiang Mai offer different campus settings and living costs. Compare commute, housing availability, community, and services near the actual campus.
Plan ahead
Universities set their own criteria. Depending on the program and degree level, Indian applicants may be asked for academic certificates and transcripts, passport details, English-language evidence, a statement of purpose, references, and program-specific tests or interviews. Some qualifications may need an equivalency review or certified translation.
Use the university’s current intake calendar. Starting several months ahead gives time to prepare documents, complete any tests, compare offers, and follow the visa process after admission.

Follow the current Non-Immigrant ED requirements for your application location and the instructions provided by your university. Fees, supporting documents, processing, and stay conditions can change. Confirm them with the responsible Thai mission or e-Visa service.
Visa guide for applicants from IndiaDo not budget on part-time work or assume an internship is permitted without checking current rules and getting the required approvals.
Budget in THB and INR
Fees vary substantially by institution, degree, course, and applicant category. International colleges and specialized programs may cost more than other courses at the same university. Build a total budget from the latest official fee schedule, then include housing, food, transport, insurance, books, travel, and one-time charges. Convert THB to INR using a current exchange rate rather than relying on a fixed estimate.
Check the fee for your exact program and intake. Ask which charges are included and whether fees can change.
Compare housing, food, and commuting near the campus. Bangkok and Chiang Mai have different cost profiles.
Check current university or government awards, eligibility, coverage, and deadlines. Compare Indian lender terms directly with the lender.
For Indian applicants
There is no single best option for every student. Shortlist universities by your intended degree, course quality, language, total cost, entry eligibility, recognition needs, and location.
Some programs are taught in English, including at international colleges and selected departments. Confirm the language of instruction for the exact degree and intake; it can vary within one university.
Entry requirements are set by each program and degree level. Universities may assess school or prior-degree results, subject prerequisites, English evidence, tests, portfolios, or interviews. Use the current admissions page for your course.
Costs vary by university, course, city, and applicant category. Check current official tuition schedules and build a full budget that includes living and one-time costs. See our [Thailand cost guide](/cost-of-studying-in-thailand) for planning support.
Admission rules and Indian medical licensing rules are separate. Before applying, verify current NEET and foreign medical qualification requirements directly with the relevant Indian medical regulator and the university. Do not rely on a general claim of recognition.
Do not plan your budget around employment. Check current Thai immigration and labor rules, and get authoritative advice about your specific visa and any internship before accepting work.
Start as early as practical and use the current program calendar. Allow time for document preparation, tests, translations or equivalency checks, admission decisions, and visa processing; intakes differ by university.
